But, I'm so sick!
It's been over a week with tonsillitis! I just can't do anything!
Once I feel better i'll pick up where I left off.
I've been printing out everything....

Day 10 - OVEN

Ohhh the so called dreaded thing to do.
I don't do it often enough to hate it.
Ive just moved into this house (well about 4 months ago) and I cannot believe how dirty the oven was. I really don't think it was done before I moved it.
Anyways I sprayed a non caustic oven cleaner.
I didn't have the stuff to make my own.
whilst the oven cleaner was doing its job, I took out all the racks and in hot soapy water and wearing stylish rubber gloves I scrubbed the racks.
My hands were cramping I was scrubbing so hard... but they came up a treat, so shiny and silver all over again. Well worth the scrubbing till my  hands hurt.
Scrubbed the inside of the oven and the glass (which came up a treat also)
Put it all back together and WaLa, all nice and clean again ... until the next pork roast and veges galore!

Lucky for me again today I already have a pretty organised Tupperware cupboard.
I used to be a Tupperware Consultant. So I have a Heap of goodies everywhere.
I don't have much room for Tupperware and plastics, so they are organised pretty well in my hutch in the lounge room.
I know where everything is and I know where it is all meant to go back.
Its been keeping pretty neat so far.
So here is a few pictures of it.

I didn't get a chance to do the cupboard with all the pots and pans, that's on the to-do list for later.

Day 9 - Declutter

Super Super easy day..
I don't have any cealing fans, so tick that one off.
And Im already ontop of my diary keeping, If I don't I would be such a mess <3

De cluttering the draws in the kitchen, something that I was avoiding.
But you know what, took me all of about 15 minutes.
I sat on the floor in front of the draws, with a bag and some storage containers.
One by one I did the draws, took out anything that I have not used for AGES, and didn't intend too.
I got rid of some steel utensils that I knew I hate using anyways and would rather have plastic and non scratchy kind.
I used small containers for the little bits that always got lost at the bottom of the draws. Stuff I always had to fuss around to try and find because they were at the bottom and at the back underneath all the other bigger utensils.
Easy... and one that you would avoid but don't, because it took no time at all and was such a refreshing feel to open the draw at dinner time and be able to find what I wanted just at a glance.

Since today was not so full on, I cleaned up at the entrance way. I'm not sure if it is going to be later on in the next 11 days, but I did it today. My partner set that task for me, and I'm pretty sure he was sick of looking at the complete mess that was our entrance when he got home from work.
I always just walked past it and went either up stairs or to my scrap booking room or hang out washing. Always a place to avoid.

Very easy to clean up. Threw out all the old shoes that were broken or didn't fit the kids anymore.
I got two empty boxes from the toy room clean up and used them  here for the kids. When they get home from school they can put their school bags in there (and at the bottom of the boxes are their Rollerblades). The two white baskets are for their school letters, books and home readers. I am planning to "scrapbook" tags to hang on them so they know who's is whose. So for now its guess whose basket. The big black basket is for things I want to put into the car or anything I want to NOT forget.
It looks so much more organised now, and I love it.
Now to get the kids to "get" it.
Labels... I am determined to make my own.
Put that on the to-do list after this challenge!

Day 8 - Toy room

Although I could have done my craft room, (which by the way is crazy messy with scrap booking and sewing ahhhhhhhhh its in terrible need of cleaning up)

I decided to procrastinate and do the kids toy room slash spare bed.
My mum is coming to stay soon so better that first then the other room.
Anyways, I moved a few things around, I sat on the floor in the middle of the room and organised everything. Got the kids to go under the bed for me and pull out everything, I then organised into, little people, blocks, Girls toys and boy toys, books and colouring.

Ended up with one big garbage bin of stuff and toys I decided to CHUCK.
Ahhh it feels good, too bad my wheelie bin is already full, so its stuck in the entrance until some time.
(perhaps another council pick up I have so much stuff ready to chuck)

I have roller bins under the bed, one with little people and one with mega blocks. I also have one with some of my Party lite goodies.. all stored under the bed. So easy and convenient.

To make a little more room, I moved the book case which is pretty thin up onto the desk.. It makes alot more room and the space was not being used on the desk.
(tho I am planing to restore the desk by sanding it back and colouring it in bright reds, yellows and blues to make it more KIDDIE :)

Ready for the Mother to come stay. Kids please keep it tidy until then... 4 weeks to go!

Day 7- Fridge

What a easy day today, I have been feeling very tired so I could have a small nap after school drop off before getting into today's Clean.
The FRIDGE....
My fridge was only cleaned about a month ago, so it was not toooo bad, but there was a few messy things in there.

As you can see, I had lots of items in bags or left in the can... very messy.
I transferred everything to a container that was in a packet. Much much neater and the food will stay fresher for longer. Exceptionally in Tupperware Containers. Ohh how I love thee!!
I was already pretty organised for my sauces, I got them from a home care catalogue many years ago, fantastic investment!
I pulled out all the draws and shelves and washed them in hot soapy water, dried and cleaned out the inside with white goods cleaner with a hint of vanilla. (YUM)

I love a good clean fridge, and disgusting one, is well disgusting. This was not too much of a hassle because I keep my fridge relatively clean.
Its where your food is kept, you don't want to grow yuckky disgusting grotties. Meahhhhhhuck

well tomorrow is going to make up for today. I am HOPING to do the toy room/spare room and my Craft room slash scrap booking room! Someone help me with this one!

Kay

Day 6 - Bathroom

OK, the bathroom.

I do not have much room in my bathroom. I do not have much room to move at all. (who is the crazy person who designed this one)
So I did what I could with what I had.

Draw Organisation
I don't have much storage either in my bathroom, so I had to really work with what I have and I think this is proof that you can have the smallest bathroom and can still be pretty organised and tidy.

I had so much clutter and items in the bathroom that I just did not use for years! Literaly YEARS. I picked them up and threw them in the BIN.
Anything I had not picked up for at least 12 months BIN, my goodness I had stuff in there from Years ago, and I have moved house a few times and still thought, "Ill use that one day" and its That thinking that gets you in trouble.

Before and After

The face washers and hand towels I use more often went into this draw, the rest of them found a place -for now- in the linen cupboard (until that's ready to be cleaned out)
Then organised the draws, its really really easy once you get into it and you will find  yourself throwing out more then you expected and its a GREAT feeling!

I didn't clean my shower, the man of the house did, with his Gerni! Sprayed the shower cleaner and then he whipped out his...... thing haha. And smashed away the grime and dirt! LOVE, so squeaky clean.

Look at my finished product, its an OLD bathroom in a OLD house but it does not matter where you are, Home is what YOU make it <3

Over the weekend.....

How did everyone go over the weekend,

I just tried to keep on top of things.

I found this quote, It remind me of this challenge.
You do not need to tackle something big to the point where it will overwhelm you,
this 20 day challenge is all about taking things little by little and only doing organising in small doses. If day one was, Kitchen - Clean oven, all cupboards out, pantry, fridge etc. Do you think we would have continued on to the next day? Heck NO!

Reward yourself!
My reward is burning a candle. Once a room is fresh and tidy (because its already de-cluttered and clean just needs a tidy) Mainly main living areas...... I light some candles, I love the ambiance a candle gives.
I can go downstairs and put on a load of washing or hang one out and come back up the stairs and get hit with a wonderful scent, and the room is so nice and clean. It makes me feel good, happy and accomplished.

KEEP ON TOP OF THINGS

Day 5 - Floors

Day 5
A very simple one for me because I have been doing the floors each day anyways.

What I did do is pull everything from under the kids Beds, (oh my there was so much stuff under there)
Sat on the floor in the middle of the room and organised it to washing, rubbish, and toy box. (my children's room has very minimal toys in there. They have all their toys in their toy room. Makes a spot for time out so much easier because I just need to take away the small basket of toys they do have and leave them in there for time out)
I also went through the kids draws and took out all the clothes that do not fit them anymore and put them in bags for hand-me-downs.

There is also now a washing basket for them in their room, under their bed was a haven of dirty clothes that were begging to be washed. Now to get them into routine to put their dirty clothes in their basket. Last thing I want is in a few weeks needed to do this task again.

The weekend is a free weekend?
I don't think so, I will be spending spare time cleaning up and following up on previous days, don't let it get away with you because if you do  you will most likely need to do the 20 day challenge again. And if its anything like the emotional roller coaster it is for me then Id like to maintain thanks!

Its been so overwhelming, and I have been pushing myself to do it. Its more of a personal thing here, I'm trying to get myself into a good routine, I can be so slack some days and it just gets so on top of me I end up stressed and yelling at the kids.
If I can keep the up-keep going, I can already feel less stressed.
I am waking up in the morning a little more refreshed, and I can walk out into the kitchen and not think "oh my gosh, look at all this mess, I need to clean up today" because I already done it if I could the night before, and there would be washing in the machine ready to be hung out.
I'm finding myself up earlier every day doing housework when I would normally be in bed playing games on my iPhone.
This challenge has been a kick in the arse and helped me realise, hey! Your a mother, you have things you need to do!! its part of my job description right?

Thanks Organised housewife, Im looking forward to the rest of the days challanges!

Kay

Day 3 - Laundry

Ok, running behind on my blog posts, but better late then never right.

Now my laundry is really really small.
I store the camping sleeping bags etc in there so they don't get mouldy in the garage with the tents and what not.. Who has the money when it comes time to go camping again to re-buy it all again.. Hmm not me!
Soooo to accommodate all that I had to do a bit of re arranging to make it not look so cluttered.
I moved more of the cleaners down UNDER the Laundry sink.
A place I don't usually use at all, but now I have two 79c buckets with products in it under the sink. No need to rifle for it, just pull the buckets out and look.

Before and After
I also Cleaning up the shelf with all my washing detergents, now if your looking and thinking my goodness I have alot of washing liquids/powders. Your right I do.. simply because I am a Cloth nappy mummy and half of the products are for cleaning cloth nappies.
Rinse was, strip wash, normal wash (a few different kinds) and detol disinfectant wash.
Then add the stain remover, powders, liquids and cuddly to the mix for normal wash, I LOVE choice...  Ok so anyways total of topic!

I Got a few basin type of things from Uncle bills, just to put those little bits and bobs, for now until I find something that is the same size I have a box with a bag in it for rubbish.
My bucket with my cleaning products for the 20 day challenge.
Where the baby bath is, is my temp sorting station, and today actually I'm going to Ikea to pick up some wire draw basket things like the Organised Housewife has in her laundry example.

Day 4 - Lounge Room

LOUNGE ROOM Before and After
The lounge room was one of the easyest of all, only because its one room of the house that is cleanned all the time anyways.

I did dust everything, including the speakers and added granny doilies under the photos.
I wiped over all the photos and got the dust off and fingerprints. Cleaned the tv (with special TV wipes but for anyone with a LED or LCD viniger n water with a soft cloth is the only other alternative to avoid scratching your screen)
I cleaned out my cabnet, this is relativly new (from Ikea I LOVE) but I got it a bit more organised and dusted.

I vacumed under all the lounge cushions, scrubbed all the lounge arms and vacumed under the rug.
I do want to have a little basket like sugested on Organised Housewife for all the baby toys but I want to get something that will go with the lounge room, was not happy with "just a basket) so for now toys are stored inthe bumbo chair :)

Thats all to really say about todays challange.

Till Day 5 which is Floors.....

Day 2 - Main Bedroom

DAY 2 - MAIN BEDROOM

Today I got off to a slow start, I did manage to have a shower BEFORE school drop off and didnt RUN around at 9am shoving the kids into the car before the 9.10am bell went.
I managed to get two loads of washing out onto the line <3

I spent the morning organising my PartyLite goodies, and had a few friends over..
So this afternnon  I got stuck into it before school pick up..
(but hung out washing and brought in the loads of clothes and Cloth nappies before starting)
Sat on the floor infront of my draws and went through them refolding and putting in a bag unused and unwanted clothes ready for a salvo drop.
My Make-up draw organised
I then proceeded to clean out compleatly my beside table.
Here is my second draw of my bedside table.
I used sock devider things I brought from Aldi a few months ago. But I have brought something like it to organise a few other things from Uncle Bills in Penrith, They are the same size and they cost me $2.10 for 4!! BARGIN...

It makes it alot more easier to see what is in there. I did the same on my top draw too. it looks fantastic, and I can look in there and not get stressed cause its a HUGE mess!!!

I am choosing to not post before and after pictures of my bedroom due to privacy... its my personal space <3 so I hope you understand... every other room... sure <3

Tomorrow is Laundry, My laundry is only small, and I have a adjoining toilet to the laundry so I am going to clean that too!!
I have playgroup in the morning but when I get home I will be armed and ready,,, or better yet I am going to try and get alot of it done BEFORE school.
Fingers crossed!

Kay

Day 1 - The Kitchen

OK, Day one compleat and I feel so over whelmed.
I got it almost done.
I cleaned the benches, I declutered and declutered in the middle of washing and feeding the baby and watching last nights ep of Big Brother.

So my progress is as follows,
I DO NOT have much bench space, and the the space I did have was filled up with things that I now realise did NOT need to be there.
<<<<<<<<
Here is the Before and after of the Right side of my only bench space... I had toaster, and knifes etc. So much stuff that just didnt need to be there.
Now in the bottem pic is the after.. Toaster is now away, leaving knifes and compost bin.
All these years I had the toaster out... what was I thinking.
The easyYo yogurt maker wouldnt normaly be there, but hey, im making some strawberry yogurty goodness.
(and defrosting a chook for Tuesday nights dinner.)

Ok now to the other side...... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
It was so cluttered with storage I thought when I moved in would fix the problem. Obviously not, and with the great idea from Katrina (the organised house wife) I done NEED anything on my benches..
chopping board kettle and baby food. And a container of freshly backed cheese and bacon muffins for Tuesdays morning tea!!
I also compleatly re-oranised the pantry, moved everything in to similar lots.
For example, sauces (tomato, mao, dressing, chocolate etc) then moved to pasta sauce and then meal sauces like chicken tonight. On another shelf, pastas, soups, etc Jams n spreasds, canned condements, fruits etc.
Its all still a big full clutter, but its oranised and there is not much u can do unless you have a rotary kind, which I dont.

The tupperware dry good cupboard looks like it came out of a tupperware cattaloge, gotta be happy with that.
and under the kitchen sink,
Not the best picture, but before and after.. Using cheapo baskets from Uncle bills, (1.70 cheeeeeeeap)
its so much tidyer. My aldi shopping bags al together, my toaster as u can see now has a place.

I cannot beleive I had so much room in here untill I cleaned it out.

I do need to tidy up the pots and pan cupboard and im soooo excited to, but its midnight and im stuffed.
I still have tomorrow..

which is..... main bedroom.
Ohhhhhh I can soooo do that!!!

Tho my wonderful and supportive Partner has doubts, and indeed I have MORE.. I think the first few days will be rather hard, or a rush to get what I should have got done at the last min.

Lets see... So for now Im off.
